New Car & Logbook Servicing

At Bob Kolln Automotive, we provide logbook servicing for cars, 4x4s and commercial fleet vehicles. So, what is a logbook service? Logbook servicing is a vehicle service that’s conducted in accordance with manufacturer logbook specifications. This is typically done in order to retain your new car warranty; however, it’s often required for insurance policies and should be booked once every 10,00kms or six months — whichever comes first.

During the logbook service, our skilled mechanics will inspect your vehicle for common faults and safety concerns. As part of this service, we will replace critical consumables such as motor oil, radiator fluid and oil filters. Sound good to you? Call (02) 4392 6111 to book a logbook service at our Charmhaven mechanical workshop today. We welcome clients throughout the Central Coast including Woongarrah, Gorokan, Wadalba, Toukley, Warnervale and surrounding areas.

Before a vehicle can be registered or sold, it needs to pass a safety check. A safety check, also known as a vehicle inspection, is a thorough look at your vehicle’s mechanical components in order to determine whether it’s roadworthy. If your vehicle passes the test, we then issue a roadworthy certificate. At Bob Kolln Automotive, our mechanics provide safety checks and registration inspections for vehicles up to 4.5 tonnes (including LPGs). Additionally, we can also provide blue slips, which verify that an unregistered vehicle is safe for temporary use on the roads. Our mechanics can provide blue slips for passenger vehicles, motorbikes, caravans and trailers.

FAQ

  • What is a logbook service?

A logbook service is a scheduled vehicle service carried out according to the manufacturer’s specifications listed in the vehicle’s service logbook. These services are designed to maintain performance, safety and reliability at set intervals, usually based on time or kilometres travelled.

  • How often should a logbook service be done?

Most manufacturers recommend logbook servicing every 10,000 to 15,000 kilometres or every six to twelve months, whichever comes first. The exact interval varies by vehicle make, model and engine type, so it’s important to follow the schedule outlined in the logbook.

  • Do I need to service my car at the dealership to keep my warranty?

No. Australian Consumer Law allows vehicles to be serviced by any qualified mechanic, as long as the logbook service follows the manufacturer’s specifications and approved parts and fluids are used. Skipping services or failing to meet requirements can affect warranty coverage.
